About Us

The Double L Ranch was founded on 48 acres in 2018. It started off as an unmanicured property that took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to mold into the property you will see today. Luther and Lori Carpenter are the owner/operators of the DLR. Luther is a proud veteran of the United States Army, Ret. 1SGT of 24 years and 6 months. He is a decorated war veteran of Desert Storm and OIF, receiving a Bronze Star and many other awards. He still serves his country now helping develop and modify the ABRAMS fleet of tanks for almost 20 years. Lori was and always will be his rock. She stood valiantly by Luther’s side through his military career, raised 2 kids, logged thousands of volunteer hours in support of military and their families. She has been referred to by many as a saint on earth. She is currently still serving families as a FRSA for the MEDCOM division of the Army on Fort Cavazos, TX.

They had a vision with this ranch. Not everybody could see it, but they did. From the day they bought the ranch, they have been committed to its success. From breaking ground, clearing the property, sacrificing time and money, thousands of miles on their vehicles back and forth from Copperas Cove to Lampasas. To where it is now; a beautiful home, clean property, sustainable water source, multiple buildings, hundreds of trees removed and probably the same in chainsaw blades, lots of help from family and friends, the vision turned into a reality

For the first couple years the ranch was setup for deer hunting. We have been able to harvest some incredible deer and feed our family and many others. But we wanted more. Fast forward to the end of 2023 and the plan started to unfold. The process of clearing fence line began. Tree by tree, bush by bush, we did it all by hand and tool. When we say blood, sweat, and tears, we mean it. Doing it right is important and that is what we did. Now, we can sit back and see the fruits of our labor as we start getting our longhorns in. Seeing our kids and grandkids, their friends and ours smile and enjoy the time out there is worth it. The vision turned reality, turned into a blessing. One that we can share with others and turn this plot of land into something that can sustain for decades to come. The best is yet to come. We know it will take hard work. To that we say, bring it on. Welcome to the Double L Ranch!
